Gospel Artist Alex Nyachonga Apoko (Ringtone) and Co-Accused Charged with Ksh 50M Land Fraud

Gospel musician Alex Nyachonga Apoko, popularly known as Ringtone, and his co-accused Alfred Juma Ayora were arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, facing charges of defrauding businesswoman Terresia Adhiambo Odhiambo of a prime Ksh 50 million land parcel in Karen, Nairobi.

The two were charged with three counts, including conspiracy to defraudforgery, and perjury. Prosecutors allege that between February 2022 and February 28, 2023, the accused fraudulently claimed adverse possession of Land Parcel No. Nairobi/Block 99/142 (measuring 0.1908 hectares), falsely asserting that Apoko had resided on the property for over 20 years.

Additionally, they are accused of forging an affidavit sworn before advocate S.M. Katonya on February 28, 2023, in which Apoko misrepresented his occupancy duration—a claim investigators have dismissed as false.

Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego denied Apoko bail pending a ruling on his application, set for Monday. The case highlights growing concerns over fraudulent land transactions involving high-profile individuals in Kenya.
