OFFICE OF THE COUNTY ATTORNEY
PRINCIPAL LEGAL COUNSEL. (1 POST) JOB GROUP ‘Q’-VACANCY NO. KSI/PSB/EA/17/2024
Requirements for appointment
- Be a Kenyan Citizen.
- Bachelor of Law (L.L.B) degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
- Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
- A master’s degree in law or any other social science from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
- Membership to the Law Society of Kenya
- Must be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate
- A minimum experience of five (5) years in either public or private legal practice;
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Satisfies requirement of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity.
- Membership of the institute of certified secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK) will be an added advantage.
Duties and responsibilities
- Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for and on behalf of the county executive drafting leases and contracts.
- Assist in Formulation and review of county laws in consultation with the County Attorney;
- On the instructions of the County Attorney, Prepare legal opinion to the County Executive on legislative and other legal matters;
- Prepare cabinet memoranda;
- Support in drafting and Publication of legislative proposals for the County Government
- Initiating and undertaking research on emerging legal issues and preparing Legal opinions and briefs;
- Handle corporate legal matters under the instructions of the County Attorney
- Shall, on the instructions of the county attorney, represent the county executive in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a party, other than criminal proceedings;
- Perform any other duties that may be delegated by the County Attorney.
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable Remunerations: as per SRC Guidelines.

- Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
- Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board. (HELB).
- Dully filled and stamped Self-Declaration/Clearance from the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC).
- A Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
