Job Description
The driver will be responsible for safely transporting patients, medical supplies, and staff between various locations within the hospital premises or to external destinations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, medical personnel, and equipment to and from designated locations.
- Follow predetermined routes and schedules, ensuring punctuality and efficiency in transportation services.
- Assist patients in boarding and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
- Handle medical equipment and supplies with care, ensuring proper loading and unloading procedures to prevent damage.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards of the vehicle interior and exterior, including regular cleaning and sanitization.
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper functioning of all systems and report any issues or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle, prioritizing the safety of passengers and pedestrians at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate transportation activities and address any concerns or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and transportation activities, submitting reports as required by departmental protocols.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance driving skills and knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
Skill & Experience
- KCSE qualification required; additional certification in defensive driving or first aid is a plus.
- Valid class BCE driving license with a clean driving record and demonstrated experience in operating vehicles safely, particularly in urban or densely populated areas.
- Valid certificate of Good Conduct.
- Prior experience as a driver, preferably in a healthcare or transportation-related setting, with a strong understanding of patient care protocols and confidentiality requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, medical staff, and other stakeholders.
