Job Description

The Pharmacist will offer overall Pharmacy operational leadership while providing pharmaceutical care, and ensuring optimal drug therapy outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technologists.
  • Dispense medications accurately and efficiently in accordance with prescriptions and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient medication therapy plans.
  • Provide drug information and education to healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, committees, and quality improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient medication records and documentation.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including procurement, storage, and distribution of medications and supplies.
  • Monitor medication usage trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly to minimize waste and stock outs.
  • Conduct regular audits of medication stock to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement inventory control measures to prevent medication shortages and expiries.
  • Coordinate the disposal of expired or unused medications in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to pharmacy team members.
  • Identify training and development needs and implement strategies to enhance staff competencies.

Skill & Experience

  • Bachelor Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Current practicing license from Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacotherapy principles, drug interactions, and medication safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
