Leading online gaming company SportPesa is set to take over as the main sponsor of Kisii-based Shabana Football Club starting from the 2024/25 season, which kicks off on August 24. This three-year sponsorship deal marks a significant milestone for both the club and SportPesa, reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting Kenyan sports.
Shabana FC, affectionately known as Tore Bobe, will become the third top-tier club under SportPesa’s sponsorship, joining Gor Mahia and Murang’a Seal. The partnership is expected to boost Shabana’s performance and profile in the Kenya Premier League (KPL), where they returned in the 2023/24 season after a 17-year absence. Under the leadership of former Kenyan international Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo, the team secured a 14th-place finish last season, ensuring their stay in the top flight.
Ahead of the upcoming season, Shabana has strengthened its squad with several key signings, including Elvis Osok, Titus Achesa, Cliff Nyakeya, and Maxwell Muchesia, among others. These additions signal the club’s ambitions for a successful campaign.
An official unveiling ceremony for the sponsorship deal is scheduled for Thursday, where more details will be shared by Shabana and SportPesa management. The team will kick off their season with an away match against Bidco United at Thika Stadium on Saturday, August 24.
